In Denmark, the construction of a new world's largest wind turbine
Upon completion of the production of three huge blades in Denmark will begin construction of a new wind turbine, which will subsequently become the largest wind turbine in the world. The first of the outstanding issues is the problem of lightning, which, anyway, will strike the blades of the wind turbine, damaging the blade themselves, an electric generator and associated systems. No less urgent is the problem with the fact that the particles of dust, snow and rain act as an abrasive, slowly and surely stachivaya material from which made the blades. This problem was solved by developing a new type of protective coating that is applied to the blade edges.
Conducted aerodynamic tests helped engineers improve the design of the blades to increase the efficiency of their work. "The cost of produced turbine power depends on many factors, including those from the aerodynamic efficiency, from which depends directly on the amount of energy produced," - says Jesper Madsen (Jesper Madsen), the chief engineer of the company LM Wind Power, - «We had to compromise between efficiency, cost and reliability of each blade, and this compromise has brought us to increase efficiency by one percent. For turbines with a large rotor, a capacity of 6 to 8 MW, even one percent translates into a huge amount of additional energy produced by them during the year. »
The first wind turbine to be installed by the end of this year in Bremerhaven (Bremerhaven), Germany. The maximum capacity of the generator will be 8 MW, which is enough to supply the energy not the smallest city in which there are 10 thousand average homes.
