Stop-fruit in Japan
Bus stops come in all shapes and sizes. In a small Japanese town Conaghan, on the outskirts of ISAH in Nagasaki Prefecture, they look like five different products - watermelon, strawberries, oranges, cantaloupe and tomatoes. These bizarre bus stops were built during the exhibition Travel Expo 1990 to attract visitors coming from various countries.
In fact, the Expo was held in Osaka. It was held for six months and attracted more than 23 million visitors. The fair was such a success that have been carried out many smaller fairs, expressing relevant topics throughout Japan. In Conaghan an exhibition under the title "Journey to Nagasaki," and these sixteen fruit forms were part of a large exhibition.
Since then, the original stops in the form of vegetables, fruits and berries have become local landmarks. Fruit bus stops Conaghan became more widely known after 2005, when the city, along with four others, were combined into a larger town ISAH that allows them to be seen a large number of travelers and tourists. Bus stops are still functioning, and surprisingly well preserved in the last quarter of a century.
