People - not the only primates that can whisper
We discovered a new oedipal Tamarin sposobnost
Zoologists know that some animals are able to whisper or to publish some similar sounds under certain circumstances. But until now, this capability has not been observed in primates - except, of course, people.
Oedipal tamarins or Saguinus oedipus, - one of the smallest primates in the world live in the rainforests of the north-west of Colombia in South America. Their "whisper" was found in the Central Park Zoo in New York during the experiment, during which was supposed to find out what sounds emit primates with the fear of the people.
When an employee of the zoo, which tamarins knew and trusted, was a cage, primate silent. Later, when scientists analyzed the audio spectrograms, they realized that the tamarins actually talked, but extremely subdued tone (low-amplitude vocalization).

Researchers Rachel Morrison and Diana Reiss believe that this potential evidence of convergent evolution in communication strategies among highly social species.
