Scientists have found a new planet to evacuate humanity

The planets capable of supporting life, longer than was thought ranee

A group of scientists dealing with the search of planets suitable for life, made a sensational statement: in our galaxy 22% of Sun-like stars in orbit may be planets that can potentially become a refuge for humanity in case of evacuation from the Earth due to environmental or other disaster, with the closest of which is located at a distance of 12 light years.

A new study published by the "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences", issued by the US scientific community. A group of specialists under the direction of Eric Petigury the University of California at Berkeley with the help of space telescope "Kepler" studied 42 thousand stars, with from 603's discovered planets chose 10 the size of Earth, which are located in the habitable zones of stars, that is, there may well exist life forms.

In this study, data were obtained for the first time how often the planet in the universe there are potentially suitable for life. From the 200 billion stars of the Milky Way about 40 billion similar to the Sun, therefore, theoretically, have about 8, 8 billion planets temperature conditions which are comfortable enough for the emergence of living organisms. Thus, the planets suitable for human resettlement can be much greater than previously thought - we can only figure out how to get there.
