Samsung has introduced a high-capacity SSD performance with the vertical structure of the memory cells

Not so long ago Habré published an official announcement of Samsung, which spoke of the beginning of mass production of the industry's first flash 3D V- NAND, having in the bulk structure of vertically stacked 32 layers of memory cells.

Now the market did, and the first model SSD, the production of which has been completed based on this particular technology. The drives are positioned as the SSD for high performance systems, including PC-class high-end / workstations. Lineup SSD new type was called the 850 PRO, and the capacity of the older models up to 1 TB.

How productive new drives? According to the developers, SSD specified range most productive among all other models with interface SATA III. Read / write speed at 850 PRO constitute 550/520 MB / s, respectively. As for such quantities as IOPS, then the new model boasts 100, 000 IOPS for reads and 90 000 IOPS for recording. This is about two times faster than in the case of drives with "flat" structure of the memory cell NAND.

As for the price, it is higher than that of other models SSD, but not exorbitant:

  • 128GB - MZ-YKE128BW - $ 129.99
  • 256GB - MZ-YKE256BW - $ 199.99
  • 512GB - MZ-YKE512BW - $ 399.99
  • 1TB - MZ-YKE1T0BW - $ 699.99
Here's an interesting video with an explanation of what is a technology 3D V-NAND:

By the way, my first SSD company introduced in 2006, ie 8 years ago.
