The agreement "On the Union of Belarus and Russia" ceased operation since the entry into force of the Treaty establishing the Union State of December 8, 1999. In these documents, the Heads of State firmly resolved to continue the gradual movement towards voluntary unification in the Union State while preserving the national sovereignty of the member states. However, the last few years the desire to unite politicians, apparently, began to wane. In any case, the Union State of Russia and Belarus talk quieter and less. But a number of festive events on the occasion of the Day of Unity of Belarus and Russia is still held. Among them - the various conferences, which are attended by representatives of the integration bodies, the legislature and the executive, creative and scientific intelligentsia, youth; holiday concerts, which are the leading performers and groups from the two countries, and other cultural events.
