The most northern railway
Norilsk railway is one of the most northerly in the world. Isolated Train "oasis" (from the nearest station Railways network it is separated about 700 kilometers) for more than 70 years, faithfully working for the needs of the Norilsk industrial district.
The history of the railway in this region began in 1936, when the branch was built from the pier at UZ r.Norilskoy to mine under construction under a mountain Shmidtiha. In the same year, mainly by prisoners' Norillaga "it began construction of 114-km narrow-gauge railway from the village of Dudinka on the Yenisey. In the spring of 1937 and it has already passed the first train. On the broad gauge, it was altered in the 1947-1953 biennium, in part by passing the new, shorter route.
Norilsk has long been famous for the world's northernmost train. If someone enters the Norilsk from the airport, it is surprised that the main and most beautiful square of the city (October) is at the opposite end thereof, and a statue of Lenin stands with his back to the city. No special facilities other than mine, and the ruins of the old town in the other side is not. The puzzle is easily explained - it is here until the end of the 1980s, housed the passenger station (station Oktyabrskaya), where trains from Dudinka and later - airport Alykel.
The intensities of the commuter traffic Norilsk in his best years could envy a regional center. There were routes trains "October - Coal cut", "October - Alykel", "October - Dudinka," "October - Kayerkan", "Alykel - Dudinka." By commuter train locomotives went "Kayerkan - Kalargon - Hope", "October - anhydrite - Hope - Anniversary».
Prior to the mid-1970's suburban trains by diesel locomotives go in Talnakh. Submit them to the station on the outskirts Golikova Norilsk. Routes were as follows: "Golikova - Oktyabrsky mine", "Golikova - Energy (TEC-2)", "Golikova - Lighthouse", "Golikova - mine Komsomol».
Road construction and improvement of the technology of maintaining them in a state of the carriageway in the conditions of Norilsk climate gradually led to the fact that passenger traffic has been gradually move to the buses. In the early to mid-1970 it was canceled trains Talnahsky direction, departing from the station Golikova. In the late 1980s and it was closed the station Oktyabrskaya (the place is now a mosque), and greatly reduce the number of trains in the station began to go Norilsk-sorting. Her monumental Station 60s that was used all the time as the management of the railway and the legends designed for fast coming here line with the "mainland", began to take passengers. But in spring 1998 the leadership of the city and the plant has taken the decision to cancel all trains and dismantling contact network - both economically inefficient. This is a very controversial decision. To this day, Norilsk, faced with considerable difficulties when traveling for work such as the "Hope" after the announcement signal "Storm", with a quiet sadness remember the train - an old and slow, but trouble-free in all weather conditions.
Some cars had been left in Norilsk and Dudinka razdelyvaya metal, and some - sold and sent to the Ministry of Railways for suburban areas of Perm and Belgorod. And getting into the old ER-2 in these cities, think - and suddenly in a past life, these coaches worked far, far away, in the tundra of the Polar Norilsk?
