Belgium allowed euthanasia for children
Belgian Parliament voted to allow euthanasia for terminally ill children, regardless of their age.
86 deputies supported the relevant draft law, 44 were against. Thus, Belgium became the first country in the world, which has removed the age limit for this procedure.
The law stipulates that doctors can help the child to die if he is ill with an incurable disease, suffers from severe pain and there is no way to remove it.
Opinion polls show that most Belgians supported the decision. Strongly advocates against the Catholic Church.
Euthanasia for adults is permitted in Belgium since 2002.
