Flying squirrel can overcome the air distance up to 80 m, depending on the starting height, and when landing lift up the tail to reduce the tension of the membrane, and then it becomes a kind of parachute.
Omnivores, feeding on insects, small mammals and birds, nuts, acorns, bark, fruits, berries and seeds. Are nocturnal. Live in pairs or larger groups (up to 20 individuals). Nests in tree hollows satisfied.
