White Tiger - is a recessive mutant of the Bengal tiger, which is sometimes found in nature in Assam, Bengal, Bihar, and especially in the former State of Rewa. Compared with conventional tigers colors without white gene, white tigers usually larger than usual, at birth and at maturity.





The Bengal tiger subspecies have also met individuals with black stripes. The same phenomenon can be seen among individuals of the Amur tiger, and stories have been cases where such individuals have appeared in other species


Now all over the world in zoos is several hundred white tigers, about a hundred of them - in India.




The current population of white tigers includes pure and hybrid Bengal Bengali-Amur, but it is unclear whether the recessive white came only from gene Bengal tigers, or participated in the ancestors and tigers



It is estimated that in the nature of every 15 000 th white Bengal tiger born


The existence of the white tigers are not scientifically documented, despite periodic unconfirmed evidence that they have seen in the regions inhabited by the Amur tiger.




Perhaps white mutation does not exist in nature Amur tiger: in captivity was not born yet no white Siberian tiger, despite the fact that this subspecies is actively used for breeding
