The secret of the statues of Easter Island by American scientists unraveled

How the creators of the huge statues on Easter Island (an island in the South Pacific, the territory of Chile) managed to move them over long distances? American scientists claim that could solve this riddle, reports National Geographic.

According to the researchers, people moved huge monolithic idols rocking them from side to side and do not use carts, cranes and animals. It was possible, the researchers say, because of the statue are massive belly, the center of gravity, as well as rounding bottom.

Recall that last winter was an experiment in which 18 people transported the statue "Moai" with ropes. Statue weighed 5 tons, and its height reached 3 meters. When traveling it is always in a vertical position.
