Shortage of goods
The trade deficit is probably familiar to all who were born in the Soviet Union. The most necessary goods produced in such small quantities that they simply did not have enough to all but useless to anyone was more than enough. I suggest you look at these pictures and remember what they were deficient were the last years of the Soviet Union.
