King
Tsar - Ivan the Terrible (Pyotr Mamonov) came to the throne at a difficult time for Russia. Throughout the war and destruction. But for the time of Ivan the Terrible absolute power has come. Anyone who tries to go against his will, waiting for execution. Boyars, hitherto tried to feel, regardless of the king and advise him, were in severe conditions monarchical mayhem. Domestic prowl guardsmen, tortured and executed boyars, take the treasury property. Only the lonely voice of Metropolitan Philip (Oleg Yankovsky) is heard in the troubled country. Only Philip found the courage to go all the way, so do not conclude an agreement with his conscience. He deliberately sacrifices himself, thus showing the greatness of spirit as opposed to barbarism, pettiness and deadly suspicion of Tsar Ivan.
