Camel fighting in Turkey

This traditional sport popular in the western part of Turkey. Most often, these competitions are held in the mating season camels. However, a tournament can not be called, event accompanied by mass celebrations.

On the eve of the competition, each camel decorated with embroidered carpets, carved seats and put on bells.








As such, the animals carried through the streets of the village where the camel fights take place.







The most difficult thing - to force the animals to fight each other.







After the camels are not aggressive animals.







And this struggle can be called a stretch.







Battles take place in the middle of the breeding season, males and stimulates them to show the most beautiful representatives of the opposite sex.







Turks have such entertainment occurred almost two and a half millennia ago.
