Earthquake in Turkey and Syria lusts, people under rubble, death toll rises
The big news of today. earthquakeIt has killed almost a thousand people. Another 5,385 people were injured. According to Erdogan, the country has not known such natural disasters since 1939.

The earthquake in Turkey occurred at 04:17 local time. This was reported by the US Geological Survey. The focus of the cataclysm was at a depth of 17.9 kilometers near the city of Gaziantep. Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority confirmed that at least 40 aftershocks occurred after the main quake.
As a rule, aftershocks (reshocks) are accompanied by very powerful earthquakes. The magnitude of the natural disaster in Turkey was 7.7 points, which has not happened in almost 85 years. Also, the earthquake touched the territory of Syria, namely Aleppo, Latakia, Hama and Tartus. 400 people died and more than 1,000 were injured.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reported 912 dead. Another 5,385 people were injured. This is the number of people who are known at the moment. It is difficult to imagine how many victims will be known after the analysis of all the rubble.
Videos from news reports are horrifying: the buildings in a matter of seconds folded up before our eyes like houses of cards. But the worst thing is that it is impossible to predict such a natural disaster. The first quake occurred early in the morning, followed a few hours later by a magnitude of 7.6. It happened at 13:24 local time.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the area of Elbistan in the province of Kahramanmarash, and the focus lies at a depth of 7 kilometers. One residential building collapsed live on Turkey’s global news channel A Haber.
When such an incident happens in the country, local authorities throw all their strength in order to eliminate its consequences. Erdogan said that 45 countries, including the EU and NATO, have offered Turkey their assistance. Rescue teams from the Netherlands and Romania are on their way.
In Turkey, 10 cities were affected by the earthquake. These are Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Osmaniyah, Adyyaman, Malatya, Sanliurfa, Adana, Diyarbakir and Kilis. Not only houses collapsed, but also shopping malls and critical infrastructure.
Several pipelines connecting Iraq and Turkey remained intact. However, operations at the oil terminal were suspended. In the meantime, we continue to monitor how events in Turkey develop. My deepest condolences to all the families of the victims!
What to do during an earthquake Earthquake is one of the worst natural disasters. And Turkey, unfortunately, is in the zone most susceptible to such cataclysms. When traveling to a region where earthquakes sometimes occur, be prepared in advance.
Stay in the building and take cover. Stand near an inner wall that won’t collapse. Separate yourself from heavy furniture or machinery, glass things. Do not use the elevator, if possible, cut off the gas in the apartment.
If you are on the street, it is best to be in the most open space. This is necessary so that you do not fall on anything from buildings, power lines and other objects. Once in the car during an earthquake, park it in a safe place where nothing on the car can fall. It is best to stay inside the cabin until the disaster is over. Turn on the radio to stay in touch with the outside world.
GettyImages is just basic advice. However, in an earthquake with a magnitude as high as today, not all of them will be able to help. Especially if the accident caught the person by surprise. I want to believe that rescuers will be able to pull out of the rubble as many living people as possible. Our thoughts are with them today!
