Canterbury Cathedral

If not the most beautiful, the most impressive and memorable cathedral in England is the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury - Primate of all England. Like most cathedrals, it was created in several stages and reflects a number of architectural styles, but the end result is represented by one of the greatest buildings in the world

After the martyrdom of Archbishop Thomas Becket in 1170, the cathedral has become one of the most important pilgrimage centers in Europe, immortalized by Geoffrey Chaucer in the Canterbury Tales
