Brest Fortress

Brest Fortress undertook the very first punch of the Nazis. At 04:15 am June 22, 1941 in the fortress artillery barrage hit, then went on the attack assault groups of Germans. Despite the surprise attack, the garrison had a heroic resistance to the invaders. In the context of the continuous bombing and shelling, remained without water, food and communications, organized resistance superior enemy continued until 30 June. After this, certain groups of defenders and single characters a month fought the Nazis, hiding in the ruins and dungeons. The destruction that we see in the photographs allow us to represent the degree of bitterness of the battle for the citadel.
It is clear that our soldiers and commanders were not up to the pictures, and we can only use the German News in pictures, and it is known, is always one-sided. Nevertheless, a small picture of the events I have tried to restore and bind to date.
