People know many ways to combat various pests and other animals that can spoil the harvest and so on. But for some reason, when it comes to snakes, many are attacked by some kind of primordial fear. Recently, in some areas of the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine, snakes have begun to appear more and more often in people's homes. There may be exceptions if we talk about melanists, special forms of black color. Secondly, vipers are the only snakes on the territory of Ukraine that have vertical pupils. All others have round ones.



As for non-venomous snakes, you may come across a grass snake, snake or copperhead. All of them are harmless, although snakes can be aggressive. These are the longest snakes on our territory. They can grow more than 2 m in length. Nature has not endowed them with poison, but they have more than two dozen teeth. When attacked, snakes jump and try to bite a person in the face or neck area. The bite is unpleasant, but not dangerous.

Why do snakes appear in houses? So, in the last few years, especially in the Transcarpathian region, they are increasingly reporting that snakes are found not only somewhere near the house, but also inside. The reasons for what happened may be different. For example, people often say that a snake seen in the house means that you need to buy poison for mice and rats.



Indeed, snakes can appear in a house if they have something to eat there. On the other hand, some people even rejoice when, for example, they notice a snake in the house. This means the grain will be safer.

As for the stories from Transcarpathia, then, most likely, the reason for the appearance of snakes in people’s houses should be sought in the nearby hayfields. The fact is that people continue to raise livestock less and less often. This means that the grass, which was previously intended for cows and others, grows tall, which allows snakes to move around with less risk to themselves.

How to get rid of snakes? First of all, you should understand that the snake in most cases does not want to meet with you just as much as you do with it. Experienced summer residents, for example, having noticed a grass snake or a copperhead, can easily put them in a bag using a net or shovel and take them somewhere into the forest. But if you don’t want to meet snakes at all, you can use folk remedies or scientific achievements.

You need to understand that snakes are completely deaf (shoutout to everyone who believes that a cobra can be hypnotized by playing a wind instrument), but on the other hand, they are sensitive to vibrations. It is this fact that the creators of various snake repellent gizmos use. Often you need to dig several of them around the perimeter of the site; they will vibrate and drive away snakes.



People also try to fight reptiles with the help of odors. You can soak a few rags in kerosene and scatter or dig them around the site. Well, a very exotic method is associated with hedgehogs. These are natural enemies of snakes, so if you manage to feed a family of hedgehogs, most likely there will be no snakes on your property.
