Winged phrases by Stanislav Jerzy Letz

Today. Stanislav Jerzy Letz He was celebrating his 114th birthday. However, to become a long-lived famous Polish poet and satirist, unfortunately, failed. Nevertheless, he lived a very interesting life, leaving behind a remarkable legacy.

Today, on the birthday of the famous creator of words, we want to tell you a little more about him and share with you aphorisms that touch the living.

Stanislav Jerzy Lec Stanislav Jerzy Lec was born in Lviv, which at that time was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His father was Austrian and his mother was Jewish. Such a different origin left a mark on the poet’s writing activity, which he repeatedly recalled.

The future writer was educated in Vienna and Lviv. In the last city Stanislav also graduated from a higher educational institution. By training he is a lawyer and a polonist. Even in his student years, Letz began to write poetry. He was fortunate to share his creations with the public.

Instagram / @pausa.silentium Stanislav wanted his poems to be appreciated in the family. So he tried to publish one of his works in the newspaper, which was written and read in his house. Soon, together with fellow poets, Letz created his own magazine. However, it succumbed to strict censorship, and the second edition of the publication was completely destroyed by the police.

But these difficulties did not stop Stanislav. He continued to write on sensitive socio-political topics. In many ways, this contributed to the First World War, which the writer survived when he was still very young. Letz is also known as a satirist writer, whose capacious frescoes (epigrams) touched the lives of people of that time.

However, many of Stanislav’s aphorisms are still relevant today. Here, for example, one of them: “Those who put blinders on their eyes should remember that the kit also includes a bridle and a whip.” This expression perfectly describes people who refuse to think with their heads and blindly follow their idols or leader.

Today, propaganda works no worse than in Soviet times. So those who deliberately refused to take responsibility for their own actions should remember that the “big brother” will continue to control them. He simply does not feel resistance from people.

Stanislav Jerzy Lec’s winged phrases Stanislav Jerzy Lec spent several years in a German concentration camp. He knew exactly what the price of life was, which literally hung in the balance every day. Extraordinary courage and a real miracle helped the writer escape and escape. He continued his guerrilla anti-war activities in Warsaw before leaving for the front.

Instagram / @true_or_false_quote "Every century has its own Middle Ages," Letz said. And it’s hard to disagree, because even now, in 2023, we’re facing terrible things for our time. For example, in Ukraine for more than a year is a full-scale war unleashed by Russia.

Lec was a fighter for justice. But at the same time, he warned: “When approaching the truth, do not get bogged down in reality.” Many of us live in a bubble for years. Sooner or later, each of us will have to face the harsh realities of life.

Nevertheless, the writer, who has survived so many troubles, urged people not to lose the sensual side of the spiritual component of their lives. Letz said, “Don’t let your heart shrink to the size of a clenched fist.”

Whatever quote Stanislav takes, each encrypted its secret meaning. The winged expressions of a satirical writer make us think about things that we might not have paid attention to before. And sometimes the author, on the contrary, highlights what it is long time to think seriously.

I was offended by the writer’s expression: “It is good to believe in a person, but it is better to be confident in him.” And this was disturbingly pleasing: "Let's quickly invent some other calendar, so that it is not the twentieth century?" Oh, Stanislav, you should know that the XXI century is no better!

But even in such dark times, Letz’s phrase remains relevant: “It happens that you do not want to live, but this does not mean that you want not to live.” No matter how hard it is, remember that sooner or later this will all end.

“Time is motionless, it is we who are moving in the wrong direction” – how exactly noted! We wish everyone who has read this article to the end, to find their way in life and confidently move in the right direction. Good luck!
