When kids ask me why I should read books, I tell them a funny and instructive story.

Why does a person read books? Some say that reading contributes to comprehensive development. And some people like the idea that people get inspiration from books. I would like to think that literature It immerses the reader in a completely different world. And the knowledge that each of us receives in the process of reading can be useful in the most unpredictable situations.

This is proved by the author of short prose Alexander Bessonov. In his instructive story about gypsies, the writer reveals the deeper meaning of reading and shows how important literature is in human life. We invite you to read this short article and draw your conclusions!

This story happened to my school friend Alexei. It happened when there was no order at railway stations and airports. Alexey calmly waited for a transfer in the waiting room. It was not long to wait - 18 hours. He was entertaining himself as best he could when he saw that the gypsies were breeding a fellow traveler.

Alexei came closer to this company and he heard fragments of phrases: “You have damage on you”, “you need to remove immediately”, “we will all be gone”, “you need money or gold”. It was evident that the poor man under hypnosis, the most talkative gypsy woman, was driving him in the face with a feather and humming something. The others created the background. The man got his wallet. Alexei imagined himself without money in another city and rushed to defend the deranged.

- Comrades gypsies, citizen with me, we must go, he took the poor man under hypnosis by the elbow and led aside. Immediately he felt that he was being dragged by the skin. He turned around, behind him stood a large gypsy child with golden teeth.

- Go where you were. Pa-a-areju!

Alexei did not want to be maimed in another city, and he left. Meanwhile, the man gave the gypsies a gold wedding ring and watch. There was a sense of justice in Alexey. He groped for chalk in his jacket pocket, which he had left behind after painting on asphalt with his niece.

Resolutely approached the crowd. I sat at the man's feet. As in Gogol’s “Vii” he outlined a circle within which he and the man appeared. He raised his hands up and started yelling like a madman: “Anon Edhelen Edro Chi Amen!” Fenos squirts, flippers squirts!

The fact is that Alexey loved Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings”. This is Gandalf's spell he learned by heart for some reason. It meant, "The Elven Gate, open to us now; the door of the Dwarf people, heed my word." Alexei bowed and shouted the spell over and over again. His words were heeded not only by the dwarves, but also by the gypsies.

Nervous, they began to be baptized and left one at a time. Alexey saw the same gypsy child with golden teeth. He looked at Alex and muttered something harshly. Alexei remembered his favorite scene - the battle of Gandalf with Balrog, a demonic creature - and, looking into the enemy's face, shouted at the whole station: "I am the minister of the secret fire, the keeper of the flame of Anor, the Dark Fire will not help you, the flame of Udun!" Return to the darkness, you will not pass! ?

The face of the gypsy turned white. He fell to his knees. Then he took out gold jewelry from his pockets and put it in a circle of chalk. Alexei could not stop and in a frenzy shouted: “Go back into the darkness, you will not pass!”

The poor gypsy lamented, “I have nothing more!” I have teeth, but I need some time.” Alexei did not stop: “I am a servant of the secret fire!” The gypsy cried, "I have a family." I'm scared! Police, help! Guard! And then he quickly got up and ran away.

In the end, at the entrance to the railway station were two. Alexei got up, shook his pants, and said to the man: “Here, take yours here.” Be healthy, don't get involved anymore!
The man looked at him with stunned eyes: “How much do I owe you for the rite of removing damage?”

When my children ask me why a person reads books, when I can watch TV with YouTube, I always think of Alexei and that gypsy with golden teeth. I smile and respond with the words of Felicia Janlis: “Those who read books will always control those who watch television.”

From the editorial board, reading develops both thinking and ingenuity. It is frightening to imagine how this story would have ended if Alexei had not figured out how to get out of a difficult situation. They helped him with those books. If someone asks you why you need to read, you can safely show him the story of Alexander Bessonov!
