Only in 1974, Sukhorukov again decided to follow his dream and tried to enter GITIS. Fortunately, everything went well and the potential of the guy was appreciated. In 1978, Sukhorukov graduated from GITIS and was in the Leningrad Comedy Theater named after N. P. Akimov. A couple of years later, he was fired because of his desire for strong drinks.

Being out of his favorite profession, Victor was going through difficult times. I even had to wander. Then I tried the work of a loader and dishwasher. However, the man did not break down and was able to return to the right path. Even small work in the cinema, the actor was rarely trusted. In fact, the turning point was the invitation of director Yuri Mamin to the comedy “Buckenbards”. Yuri Borisovich entrusted Sukhorukov (then our hero was still with hair) a big role and did not lose. The picture was successful, and the actor drew the attention of young Alexei Balabanov.

First, Victor played in Balabanov’s debut feature film Happy Days. And in 1997, he played in the same movie, according to which he was remembered – “Brother”. Sukhorukov came to popularity, but at the same time he was assigned the role of a bandit, so in the future he was often offered the appropriate roles. Although the actor is only 169 cm tall, he managed to look menacing in the frame. And he managed to consolidate his success very soon, when the audience saw the continuation of the acclaimed film “Brother-2”. It is worth remembering the film Balabanov called “Zhmurki”, where Sukhorukov got another negative character – Stepan Voronov.

However, a great talent asked for freedom, so Victor tried himself in other roles. Already in 2003, he participated in two historical projects: “The Golden Age” (Count Palin), as well as “Poor, Poor Paul” (Emperor Paul I). Such serious work was a great challenge, but Sukhorukov brilliantly coped, which was noted by both spectators and experts.

The actor has been working a lot lately. Appeared in “Fizruk”, played the opric voivode Malyut Skuratov in the historical saga “Godunov”. He also got a small job in the relatively recent disaster film Fire.

The success of the actor was noted in Orekhovo-Zuevo, erecting a monument there on the main street. Victor Sukhorukov treated this with irony. Although it seems that he is not at all upset that the residents of his hometown so highly praised his professional path.
