Experienced gardener Nikolai Tertyshnik after many years of practice came up with a completely simple, but nevertheless ingenious system of growing cucumbers in a bucket. He is. uses independently improved drip irrigationThis reduces the necessary care to a minimum.

With such a device, you can not fear that cucumbers will not have enough water. It helps even in hot weather, when you can not follow the watering. The vegetables will grow on their own.Since the presence of a sufficient amount of moisture is the main condition for their successful development.

What is needed for this growing system
  • bucket
  • bucket cover of 20 l or 10 l
  • bucket
  • 0.5l plastic bun
  • linen
  • t-shirt

Step-by-step instructions for creating a system for growing in a bucket
  1. First, you need to prepare a bucket smaller (by 5 liters). You can take a different size container. The main thing is that it is just below the middle of a large bucket. Cut off the bottom at a five-liter bucket, make several holes on the sides and place the finished bucket inside the main one.

  2. We make 13-15 holes in the lid with a drill. More can be done, but by no means less. It is best to take a lid slightly smaller in diameter so that it fits freely in the bucket.

  3. Then we make a hole in a large bucket through which water will get inside. We place the lid inside the bucket, determine its level of placement from the outside and make a hole below right below it.

In this hole you can insert a regular watering hole. But we use the most ordinary plastic bottle. We cut off the bottom of it, then slightly warm up with a lighter at the base of the neck and quickly bend. Remember that the hole in the bucket should be equal to the diameter of the bottle neck. After finishing with this, simply insert the bottle neck into the hole in the bucket.

  4. Linen rope will act as a kind of wicks that will deliver water to the ground. Also. You can use old T-shirts.. Preferably synthetic, since such a fabric stretches well. We cut them into the same strips, equal to the height of the bucket. It is better to add another 3 cm so that at the bottom of the bucket the rope can bend slightly. Put the ropes in the holes on the lid and put everything inside the bucket. Now it is necessary to lay the material along the entire perimeter of the lid and bucket. You can use a t-shirt or agrofiber.

  5. Start filling the bucket with soil. You can independently make a mixture that is ideal for cucumbers. It is worth combining the usual black soil, 100 g of ash and a little manure. Perlite, vermiculite or coconut substrate can be used as a baking powder. Stir everything thoroughly and gradually lay the soil in the bucket. As we fall asleep, we constantly place our ropes vertically to the very top.

  6. Finally planting a pickle. Both seedlings and seeds will do. Plant in the center, as the root system will need a lot of space. If the soil is dry, we water it abundantly with water. This will minimize stress in the plant. After that, we pour the water through our makeshift water bottle until the liquid stops going into the bucket.

  7. It remains only to mulch the surface of the earth. This is done so that the moisture inside the soil is better retained. For this, straw, fine hay or coconut substrate is perfect. In places where the handles of the bucket are located, we tie the ropes and let them up. It turns out an improvised tapestry, along which the whips of the cucumber will stretch and yield a harvest. Done!

same way You can grow not only cucumbers, but also tomatoes and peppers.. In addition, a 20-liter bucket takes about 10 liters of water at a time, so you can safely forget about watering for a week. Take note of this way, so that fresh vegetables always please you and your family. Good luck!
