Greenhouse from plastic bottles with their hands

Plastic bottles are considered garbage, but not the cottagers, who are able to find a practical use for everything. If previously we used a bottle to create a small panichkov for sprouting seedlings, but today I decided to build a full greenhouse out of plastic bottles.

Many will say that this is a real nonsense, but we're willing to bet now, since our own experience that a greenhouse from plastic bottles is possible. What is most interesting, there are even some methods of installation.

Why the need for a greenhouse from bottles?

Indeed, why is it, if there are prefabricated greenhouses of profile and glass, polycarbonate greenhouses, pipe, film, or even old doors? Why invent the wheel again, if everything is created already? But the answer is always: durability, strength, simple Assembly and minimum maintenance, quick replacement of deteriorated elements, and most importantly – the ridiculous cost of the greenhouse.

Greenhouse from plastic bottles is a real savings, because in its construction it is only necessary to order a Board the size of the greenhouse, to buy nails and gather up bottles. For an average greenhouse may be enough, and 400-600 bottles, and believe me, it's not so much, because according to statistics the average family throws away up to 30 plastic bottles a month.

This design is very durable and, oddly enough, durable. Experiments have shown that plastic bottles wear out almost 30 times longer than an ordinary film for covering greenhouses. In addition to all this, a greenhouse from bottles holds heat well due to the effect of a thermos (the cavity inside the bottles). Experienced gardeners claim that for early-spring sowing is not even necessary to heat the greenhouse, of course, depending on the region.

Such arguments very much – light weight greenhouses, simple Assembly and replacement of broken walls, incredible material strength, durability, cost, beautiful appearance and other, but there is a sense something else to discuss when you need to take to build...

Think it's hard? Wrong, because just knowing the technology and the correct algorithm, even a schoolboy can build this building for a few days. If you are thinking of a small group of like-minded people, at least 2-3 people, you can complete the project in the course of the day.

Tools and materials for building

For installation and assemble the frame and install the walls of the bottles, we will need an awl, cutter, hacksaw, hammer, nails, nylon thread, tape measure, level, pencil, and paper. To implement the project, you will need plastic bottles (number depends on the size of greenhouse), a wooden block and rack mounting.

The size of the greenhouse and the project

Especially spend time on the project it is not necessary, preferably only to indicate on the drawing the height, width and length of the greenhouse, the frequency of carriers, the shape of the roof and other stuff. It is for this and need to know the exact dimensions, which can be transferred to paper. Further, the simplest project and estimate, which will once again prove that expenses in this business almost no.

The choice of place for greenhouse and preparation area

You and I know where to position the greenhouse with a South, Southeast or southwest side of buildings to ensure proper coverage and good protection against the cold winds. If the greenhouse is installed in an open area, will have to think only about the location of the beds inside, but it depends on the kind of crops to cultivate.

Site preparation for placement of designs is very simple – clean the surface of the soil from a variety of overgrown and debris. In addition, you will need to properly mark the installation of the greenhouse in size, taken from the project.

Installation frame greenhouse from bottles

The Foundation for the greenhouse we do not need, as the design of our very light. The only thing you need is to slightly raise the base above the surface of soil to protect it from moisture. For example, you can install the greenhouse on cinder blocks, logs or thick boards.

If there is a finished basement from the old greenhouses, you can use it, but it is important not to forget about the replacement of the soil and the decontamination of the old buildings of the former plant diseases and infections.

Now build the frame. For this we need to build a rectangular base of thick bars of, say, a 10x7 cm Next, we need to set the vertical beams of the same timber, with a pitch of 1-1,2 m, assemble under the roof, to tie everything up in the middle of the beam, for example, at a height of 1.5 m from the ground. It is necessary to reinforce the structure and give it stability.

Build walls for a greenhouse made of bottles

For correct Assembly, you must observe just a few basic rules:

Just need to trim the bottom of the bottle cutter that you can put bottles on one another, but a cut in the bottom of the bottle where there is a transition from the bottom to the widest part of that bond was more difficult and efficiently; Now it should install the first row of bottles on the base. They must have a bottom, but with cut top, to the emptiness of the bottle, it can be nailed or screwed with screws to the frame made of wood; Next, collect the stack of bottles and stringing them on each other already cut the bottom. Try not to save and to tightly assemble the bars by pressure; So that the columns are not staggered, between the vertical load bearing of the timber that we have located in small increments to 1-1,2 m, we need to pull the thread to commit, or to fill evenly the mounting rail. The roof of the greenhouse

The roof can be constructed from bottles, exactly the same way as the walls, except that you will need to work with the finished columns. You will need to install and more frequent the sheathing to a building material do not fall inside the greenhouse with our own funds, though not large, but the weight.

To seal the roof tied with tape or can be served on top of a plastic oilcloth. It will take a little bit, just to prevent the penetration of moisture inside and provide a gathering water and snow from the roof.

Build a greenhouse from plastic bottle plates

Change the technology, but only with respect to the plastic material. Now we will build not whole bottles, and plates, made on their basis:

You will need to cut the top and bottom of the bottle, and the resulting, so-called pipe, cut. As a result, we get a solid rectangle of plastic. All the rectangles sew a thin wire or a special cord thread, previously a hole with an awl. The key requirement is that the firmware is not at the butt, and overlap, so one plate went to another. Mount the finished material, that is, paintings of bottles, happening on the frame is very simple – on one side the canvas is pressed to the frame rail and sits down on nails or screws. Further, it will need to pull and pin the same way the remaining three sides.

Secrets build bottle greenhouse

  • To collect bottles under the greenhouse is in advance, perhaps with the end of summer to gather up the right amount next spring.
  • Bottles you can always buy or ask the neighbors gardeners that they do not need.
  • To cut the material in different ways – using a mounting utility knife, cutter or just a large pair of scissors.
  • To seal between the bottle can be thread, fishing line, wire and glue slightly melting the edge on the fire.
  • For the construction and convenient operation correct solution would be to collect the same bottle. Most for a comfortable fit the construction of capacity 1.5 L.
  • If you are worried about the strength of the walls and their stability, there are many ways to ensure data quality – to pull the nylon thread from two sides of the greenhouse more often, install thin furring, but every two-three bottles, set with two sides of the metal mesh, the slim, just in preload.
  • If the roof is build in such a way you are uncomfortable, you can always just pull the cheap film. Importantly, it was enough for one year, and the next you can always buy new, because it will cost a penny.
  • The door to the greenhouse you can make from bottles, but not to torture yourself, it will be enough and the frame doors made of wood, covered with a film.

Choose a greenhouse from plastic bottles, and you will never regret. Durability, strength, simple Assembly and minimum maintenance, quick replacement of deteriorated elements, and most importantly – the ridiculous cost of the greenhouse. Agree, great idea! published
