The concept city tower for charging electric Charging Tower

If this architectural firm will succeed, the gas station of the future will look very different.

Charging Tower (loading tower) is a concept developed by Ennead Lab for architectural projects of new districts in Shanghai. The authors of the idea showed their vision of what will become a modern gas station with the widespread introduction of electric vehicles. Ennead calls his concept "the lighthouse road for electric cars".

Its multi-level tiers, which will be used to charge electric cars, futuristic tower is more reminiscent of a Parking structure than a modern electric charging stations. Replenishment of the stock of battery electric cars takes much more time than filling the gas tank, but Ennead hopes to turn it into an advantage. The building has a relatively small area, allowing it to fit into dense urban areas. However, it gives drivers more time where they can do their business.

Charging Tower also can serve drivers who do not have free time. It includes options for both standard and high-speed charging. Like "supercharger" Tesla, a powerful station located lower level and have higher bandwidth. Slower electric charging stations located on the upper levels of the building.

According to designers ' idea, two-speed system "charging tower" will meet the needs of both travelling long distance and local users. Local drivers can afford to wait longer, solving their daily operational issues, eating in a cafe or while shopping. Transit electric vehicle capabilities "of superchargers" is more useful – they stay only the time necessary for the charging process.

Will these towers common solution is yet unknown, but it is already clear that a massive shift to electric cars will have a significant impact on urban infrastructure. published
