How to make charcoal with your own hands

More and more often, ready-made coals are purchased for breeding a barbecue or barbecue, but if you have a lot of firewood, you can make charcoal with your own hands. In terms of quality, it is not inferior to ready-made materials that are sold in stores. The process itself and the principle of processing are not complicated, you will only need time to not miss the moment of coal readiness. Details and subtleties of work in step-by-step instructions.

Materials

You will need:

  • pieces of wood about 5 x 5 cm in size;
  • an empty metal can of paint;
  • firewood for burning;
  • hammer and nail.
Step 1. Prepare the can of paint for further operation. You will need to clean it thoroughly of the residual material. Paint can be toxic and even small parts on finished coals are clearly not needed. Take care of it.

Step 2. Harvested wood pieces send to the container from under the paint.

Step 3. Close the jar tightly.

Step 4. Take a nail and a hammer and make one hole in the lid of the container.

Step 5. Light a fire and send a jar with pieces of wood inside to burning fields. Try to put it so that after you it was convenient to get it, of course, not with your bare hands.

Step 6. Wooden pieces inside the container should be conditionally “cooked”. The beginning of this process will be evidenced by a stream of smoke, knocked out through a hole in the lid. Smoke must come out under pressure. If you bring a lit match to it, the stream will put it out.

Step 7. Gradually, the pressure of the jet will fall, and when the match is brought in the place of the hole, the flame tongue will appear. As soon as the air from the presented match stops burning again, you can get a can from the fire.

Step 8. Give the bank time to cool down completely.

Step 9. Open the jar and you will see the same coals sold in stores. If you succeed, the paint container can be changed to a jar with a dense lid of a larger volume and prepare more coals.
