The UAE will build the world's largest solar power station

State-owned energy company Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, intends to conclude the financing on the financing in the amount of 3.2 billion dirhams ($872 million) on the construction of solar power plant. Work is expected to begin in April 2017, and she Arab power has a chance to become the largest in the world.





In early February, the Office for water and electric resources of Abu Dhabi (ADWEA) has said that he chose the Japanese consortium of Marubeni Corporation and Chinese JinkoSolar holding company for construction and operation of the facility with a capacity of 1777 MW. Both companies were selected from six applicants in September 2016.

This project is the first step ADWEA development of renewable energy sources. The plans of Abu Dhabi by 2020 to increase the production of clean sources to 7%. Prior to this, solar plants engaged in government company Masdar, which started to implement projects of renewable energy sources, including solar installations.



ADWEA announced the plant will be operational in 2019, will be financed by 25% at the expense of own funds and 75% through lending, said the acting Director of privatization, ADWEA Adel al-Saeedi. ADWEA will do my part, and the remaining amount will cover local and international banks.

The cost of electricity from this solar power plant amounted to 2.42 cents per kilowatt-hour, which is one of the most competitive prices in the energy industry.

Also to manage the project will be created in the target company; ADWEA will own 60%, and Marubeni and Jinko – 40%. The energy produced will be sold to Abu Dhabi for 25 years. published
