Basket of treasures: a great game and getting a sensory experience of the child

The child begins to get sensory experience from the moment of birth when the mother first takes him in her arms. Then he inhales the calming scent of her skin. The child absorbs all images, sounds and smells, the touch of clothing to my delicate skin, the first pieces of solid food, which he tastes. In the first years of children are extremely observant. All that the baby sees, leaves an impression, stimulating the brain and nervous system and affects the sense of security.

If the child is able to sit and hold objects, he likes to explore the "basket of treasures". This is a low basket or tight box, filled with many interesting objects from the home of his everyday life or wildlife. They need to be large enough that the child could not swallow, with no sharp edges and anything that might be dangerous when the child takes a subject in hand and, possibly, stalling in the mouth. Older children also like this basket. Don't forget to periodically change its contents.

What's inside?

"Basket" should come as no surprise, the interest and anticipation of discovery. Gather 50-100 items, each of which has distinct characteristics: the shape, size, texture, weight and smell. Rely on your imagination and common sense.

You can take purse, large walnut shell, a fir cone, a brush, a pen, a bell, a smooth stone. Infants and older children use all the senses, and the adults used to rely mainly on vision. Especially attract kids items with clear color or pattern embossed shape, bright smell, cool to the touch (e.g. a stone), or produce sounds when they touch. For a small child, everything becomes new and exciting discovery.

The idea of "treasure"

  • Metal: tube and chain, a bell, a spoon, a small whisk.

  • In nature: fir cone, sponge, avocado pit, feather, pebbles, shells.

  • Wooden spoon, wooden egg, brush for baking, clothespins, bricks, Shoe brush.

  • Glass: an egg-Cup, jar for spices, salt, a small paperweight, a string of beads.

  • From fabric and leather: satin and velvet ribbon, a skein of wool, a small bag, silk scarf, pompon, the housekeeper.

You should avoid:

  • small items that can be swallowed;

  • items with sharp edges;

  • objects with loose threads or separate elements;

  • everything can be dangerous if you take in the mouth;

  • materials with unstable color.published
