Boat hydrofoil Quadrofoil Q2S Electric has released a series of

Slovenian startup Quadrofoil, specializing in the creation of electric swimming facilities in the past few years promised to start serial production of their boats on underwater wings. And recently it became known that the company has already sold 100 copies Q2S Electric Limited Edition that will be delivered to customers during the first quarter of 2017.





Hydrofoil (or hydrofoil, SPK) has a structure which allows to reduce resistance and increase speed by lifting the hull above the water. When driving on this speed boat passengers creates the sensation of soaring over the water.





Quadrofoil is now working on creating 2-and 4-seater version of its electrology. In December, the company completed the development of a commercial prototype and has released a video which shows the model in action:



"Flying" boat Q2S Electric features an electric motor with power 5.5 kW, which is powered by a block of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 10.4 kW*h According to the manufacturer, the propulsion system gives the boat a cruising range of 100 km. Double Quadrofoil has a weight of 335 kg and is able to take on Board passengers and cargo with a total mass of 170 kg. Maximum speed is 40 km/h (21 knots).





As a material for the housing hydrofoil Q2 used composites. Thus, according to the authors, the boat was "practically unsinkable". Both front and rear underwater wings are made of alloys of aluminium and are specially shaped to "fly" the ship above the water at speeds of 12 km/h





The first model will be a limited edition of 100 units, which will be delivered to buyers by March this year. The company also announced the receipt of additional investment in the amount of 1.2 million euros, which will focus on manufacturing large-scale Quadrofoil Q2S and Q2A.

The price of the hydrofoils – about $30 thousand. The output of the models for the mass market is planned for 2018.





It is interesting that these boats are planning to use in Paris. There "river buses" SeaBubbles will carry passengers along the Seine using the sun's energy. And over time, these floating cab is fully equipped with unmanned control systems. published
