France will build a thermal power plant running on waste

Thermal power plant to be built in the town of La Chapelle-Saint-Luc Aube Department in North-Eastern France. The project will have annual capacity of processing 60,000 tons.

The new plant will be designed for sustainable and local energy for local residents. A power plant running on waste will meet the strict technical and environmental standards, said Veolia.

The representative of the government Department that Daniel Burlin said: "the Choice fell on Veolia because the company has extensive experience in such projects for the production of thermal and electrical energy by burning of various wastes, which fully meets our expectations."

The power plant will use ultra-efficient processing to maximize the energy potential from waste to produce 41 GW*h of electricity per year, which is equivalent to the electrical consumption of 50,000 inhabitants.

CEO of Veolia for solving problems of waste Bernard Arambilet said, "the Construction and operation of this highly efficient power plants running on waste in line with our commitment to finding the best possible solutions at the local level. This type of contract reflects our growth and our goals in terms of a circular economy".

The thermal energy generated at power plant will be supplied to the district heating network of the town of La Chapelle-Saint-Luc. Heat will also be used for local industrial company.

France is committed to increase the use of renewable energy sources in its energy balance up to 32% by 2030 while reducing stored waste by 50% by 2025.
