Tesla will introduce a solar-panel roof at the end of October

The head of Tesla Elon Musk confirmed that the company will present a roof-based solar panels October 28. Also Tesla presents a new generation of domestic battery Powerwall and an updated system for recharging electric vehicles. Project solar roof Tesla announced in July, when he presented the new Masterplan development. The company has promised in the coming years to produce truck and bus on electric, and to create an ecosystem of energy products for the home. It will include solar panels for the roof, which Tesla has been working with startup SolarCity and Tesla home battery Powerwall. All the process — from installation to maintenance users will be able to organize with the help of special application.

How it will look new products is still unknown. It is assumed that the "solar roof" will be either a ready-made roof with photovoltaic cells, or solar panels that are integrated into the steel frame of the roof.

Also on 28 October, presents the Tesla home battery Powerwall 2.0 and updated electric charging installation. It is possible that the company will present a special charging station for home use.

We will remind, in the summer, Tesla announced plans to purchase SolarCity for $2.6 billion Startup is installing facilities and infrastructure to collect solar energy. Elon Musk part of his Board of Directors, and the founders of SC have entrepreneur cousins. News of the deal provoked an extremely negative response among shareholders. Immediately after the announcement of the merger plans of the two companies, the shares of Tesla fell by 10% and continued to fall in price. Tesla also struck several lawsuits that the company continues to investigate.

Despite the problems, Elon Musk does not stop development in areas not typical for representatives of the automotive industry. In June Musk said that Tesla never was a car company, and its main goal has always been sustainable development. Recently Tesla on a competitive basis received a contract for the construction of energy storage system 80 MWh (20 MW) in California. Powerful install from the Powerpack batteries will produce enough electricity to provide 2,500 homes or recharge 1000 electric vehicles. published
