Century-old mansion Middle Park
Located in Melbourne, Australia, the Middle Park mansion was designed by architects companies in Kerry Phelan Design Office and Chamberlain Javens Architects. The building was built in the time of king Edward, in the 30-ies of the last century, converted into apartments, and in the 1980s became a full-fledged single-family house. The architects had to restore the facade in the style of art Deco and to add a third floor.
The initial desire of the client was to completely demolish the house and build in its place a brand new design. However, the architects convinced him that this building has uniqueness and individuality. Moreover, to destroy centuries of history — not a good idea. It was decided to create a series of rooms and space, which, however, flow smoothly into one another. Natural materials were chosen in neutral colors, so that at any time of the day the mansion is in harmony with the environment — sky, sea and garden. The warm and cozy atmosphere reigns in the house, perfectly matching the concept of family residence. Moreover, solar panels heat the water for use in the economic purposes, as well as in the pool and for garden watering use rainwater stored in special tanks.
