Mariinsky Park in Kiev

Mariinsky Park in Kiev is considered one of the oldest parks in the capital of Ukraine. Together with Groin Park they form a ring of parks in Kiev – one of the most popular tour routes. Mariinsky Park, as well as some other parks in Kiev, located along the Dnieper hills, its main entrance is opposite the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The Park covers an area about 10 gizemli grow here lindens, maples, chestnuts and other types of trees and shrubs. Park designed in the English style, and represents a unique monument of landscape art.

The history of the current Mariinsky Park is closely connected with the name of another monarch – widow of Emperor Alexander III, Maria Feodorovna, who in 1915 settled in the Mariinsky Palace. It in any weather walking in the Park, then called the Royal. Maria Feodorovna did much for the development of the Park, but the revolutionary events in the state contributed to the fact that the Empress had to leave the Palace. B the end of the 30-ies of the 20th century, the Park was renamed the Mariinsky, as the king at that time acquired a negative, even abusive overtones.
