Johnson Tsang makes live sculptures
Johnson Tsang uses clay and stainless steel for sculptures. It demonstrates the properties of plastic material, which together show the unusual imagination of the author. At first glance, the exposition, as if flowing from the water and at one moment should disappear, the masterpiece freezes in its likeness for a long time so that everyone could see their thoughts close to the artist, who at the time of the birth of the sculpture raged in his head.
Johnson lives in Hong Kong and the sculpture has been in his life for more than 20 years. His exhibitions have already visited Taiwan, Korea, Spain and Switzerland. Repeatedly, Tsang’s works took first place at festivals and were awarded prestigious awards. The artist does not put the manufacture of his sculptures “on the stream”, so any of his work put up for sale becomes the object of hunting for private collectors.
Inspiring the Maistra everyday things from life that happen every day before his eyes. For example, the creation of the series “Bowls of Fantasy” he was inspired by the most ordinary bowls used in everyday life. His admiration for their form, he tried to convey to the viewer. Often you can see in the works of children's expositions, which return us to childhood, and little pupsies want to kiss.
Johnson Tsang does not like to give interviews and talk about his work. His principle is that all his works will tell about him, and wasting time on words is a waste of time. However, several public statements by Johnson Tsang suggest that his work is a manifestation of Hong Kong’s cultural independence. He protests against the frivolity of his contemporaries, who inherit Western images of art without understanding them at all.
