In Sweden build a residential skyscraper made of wood
Bureau CF Møller showed the world the project of the residential skyscraper out of wood for architectural competition HSB Stockholm 2023. This form of construction, according to architects, cheaper, easier and more stable than a conventional design of concrete and steel. "We could not build houses out of wood before, as concrete and steel occupied the market. Now, however, the industry began to think about the environment".
Says architect Ola Jonsson from CF Møller, wood is cheaper than concrete because this material is easier and will cost less. The basis of this design will be a concrete core, although at first the building was planned to make a fully wooden.
"Moreover, the tree will provide the perfect inner climate, wonderful acoustics, will help to regulate the internal temperature, and it does not need to be covered with plaster or other chemical materials," says Jonsson. New residential complex includes garages for bicycles, a solar battery on the roof and mini-gardens for the residents.
