Milk consumption helps women with knee osteoarthritis
A new study shows that women who frequently consumed low-fat milk may delay the progression of osteoarthritis of the knee.
These data are presented in the American College of rheumatology.
The consumption of cheese affects adversely on the progression of this disease, and eating yogurt has no effect.
As stated by Bing Lu, author of the study from Massachusetts, the consumption of milk has a significant role in bone health. For the survey was selected more than 2140 participants with osteoarthritis of the knee. Of these, 888 men and 1260 women.
Subsequent observations have established the fact of positive influence of milk on the progress of the disease in the female half of the group. In men a positive effect between milk consumption and a width of the joint space was not observed.
