Scientists —wife's illness raises risk of divorce

A new study shows that serious illness greatly increases the risk of divorce, especially if sick woman.

Researchers analyzed statistics on more than 2700 older married couples for 20 years.

Dr. Amelia Karraker said that the emergence of the disease in women doubles the risk of destruction of the family.

Scientists have not delved into the reasons for these results, but Karraker suggested: "Gender norms and social expectations can make caring for spouse more difficult for men."

Expert Rachel Sussman explained findings: "Women are designed by nature to care.

It's biologically programmed in us. For men it is much more difficult mission. It is not natural for them. High type of testosterone men are just not programmed for this type of work."
