Passive house with solar shingles

The American architectural Bureau has implemented the first passive house project in Colorado in the United States. Low loss of energy became possible thanks to the efficient insulation with polyurethane foam and fiber glass. The predominant glazing West and South façade create natural light and promote passive accumulation of solar heat.

The core of the climate system at home has become a Zehnder ventilation system with heat recovery exhaust air to preheat incoming air. Roofing material is solar shingles, which produces 1.2 kW·h of electricity for the home. In addition to the certification at the Passive House Institute, the project confirmed their high energy and water - saving performance in other independent certification commissions.
