Scientists have made the bread shelf

    




Brazilian scientists, with the help of essential oils, was able to extend the shelf life of sliced bread up to 15 days.

Nilda de MUSTACHE Soares and her team from the Federal University of Viçosa took the essential oils — Syzygium aromaticum from clove and Origanum vulgaris of oregano, and incorporated them in the form of emulsions in water-soluble polymers to create antimicrobial film.
The scientists bought preservative-free bread and placed slices, as handled in the new film, and untreated plastic bags. The experts found that both essential oils reduced the appearance of yeast and mold growing on the bread slices for 15 days.
