“Blue Earth” – a green phone from Samsung

Most of the major mobile manufacturers are making massive public demonstrations of their commitment to green ideas, and one such powerful display is Samsung’s Blue Earth Solar Phone. It managed to reduce the content of toxic materials such as brominated flame retardants and phthalates, and the product casings were made from secondary and recycled plastic. But most importantly, a built-in solar panel.

Just expose the panel for 1 hour to sunlight – and you can talk for 10 minutes freely, and if for 12 hours under sunlight – it will be a full charge of the battery for 4 hours of continuous conversation. Samsung claims that the presence of photovoltaic cells increases the energy efficiency of a cell phone by 34.6%.

In addition to the full-color touch screen, the most interesting feature of the mobile device is the “Eco-walk” function, which counts walking steps into information about how much CO2 you saved by walking instead of driving.
