Supermarket as a symbol of total consumption

The modern grocery store, the supermarket is a symbol of our relationship with the planet. The symbol of the winning principle of the society of total consumption. "I want everything at once." I want 24 hours a day to be able to take whatever I want from the planet - year-round bananas, midnight cutouts, fresh sea bass a few thousand kilometers from the sea. Not to mention the fact that chickens, sausages, apples, yogurts and everything else should be available at the first call.

Meanwhile, NEVER before the mid-to-late 20th century did humanity know of such consumption. I have never put such a burden on the Earth.
We still go to some Greek village, with affection perceive shops that work only until 10-11 in the morning. Fishermen selling fish - just caught, but strictly until 8 a.m. Bakeries that sell all bread until day 12.

But then we go back to normal life and we want bananas and Chilean sea bass again at 12 a.m.
To regain honest, tasty, healthy, local food, we must first understand that this desire is incompatible with a round-the-clock marathon of consuming everything that can only be imagined in our own cooking fantasies.
The planet will just blow up. And the planet needs to be nurtured. We have no other home.
