Why do we have strange dreams

Often, waking up in the morning, we can't remember what we dreamed last night. However, sometimes we still manage to remember bits and pieces or the overall atmosphere of the dream.

Often, many things we see in dreams, we seem to be unreal and even absurd, whether it's giant size talking animals or spiral stairs, we fall down.

If you believe a recent study published in the journal "Dreaming", our dreams become more bizarre the longer we sleep. Immediately after the person goes to sleep, he dreams of images, in General, based on real events. But after several hours, our dreams tend to become more and more unnatural and paradoxical.

"We found that the strangeness content of dreams increases from early to late at night, says Dr. Jose Malinowski, a lecturer of cognitive psychology at the University of Bedfordshire in the UK, and such late-dreams are more emotional".

For the experiment we selected 16 volunteers, which were monitored for two nights. The researchers woke participants in the experiment at different times of the night and recorded what they had seen dreams. Each participant was woken up approximately four times per night. In the morning they also reported that they dreamt last night.

Connected dreams with reality or they are more far-fetched phenomenon but Dr. Malinowski certainly convinced that dreams are a kind of "safety zone" by which a man solves his problem and finds out personal issues.

"Dreams are a way for us to penetrate the essence of our unconscious feelings and emotions that might be repressed into the unconscious. Also dreams often give us the key to the solution of a specific problem that we could not cope during wakefulness," says Malinowski.

The doctor also frequently resorts to special therapy – treatment sleep that helps patients better understand their psyche and subconscious.
