Knitted glass sculptures by Carol Milne

Whenever you look at these braided glass sculpture, which was created by artist Carol Milne from Australia, thinking about how it was done! Glass, at a temperature of its melting point, it is technically not possible to spin such yarn. How? The answer lies in a technique invented by Milne: the Model is made of wax she puts in a refractory mold. Upon solidification forms with the help of hot steam fully vytaplivaete wax, leaving behind an empty cavity. Pieces of glass are placed in a mold which is subsequently heated to the melting temperature, depending on the type of glass it is different. After slow cooling within a few weeks it begins the process, where Milne very carefully, like an archaeologist pulls out a finished sculpture.
