Tomoko Takeda and his creative sculptures from books

Japanese artist and designer Tomoko Takeda (Takeda Tomoko) creates his sculptural works from the books of famous classics.

Graceful and delicate, voluminous and original sculptures Tomoko Takeda creates by gradually cutting out, page after page of publications. The theme for the sculpture is the story of this book, which later will be the raw material of the sculptor. Looking only at the appearance of the finished sculpture, you can determine what kind of book was used by sculptor.

All artworks Tomoko Takeda chose the well-known world authors, and those who did not just read. This masterpieces of world classics such as the novel Jules Verne's "Two years holiday", the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery "the Little Prince". Under a thin scalpel Tomoko Takeda got a science fiction story "Flowers for Algernon" by Daniel Keyes, the tale of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland camp" and many others.

About carving books, or "carving", is the name of this art form, we introduced the reader earlier by describing the fine art sculptor Brian Dettmer (Brian Dettmer). But unlike Brian's Japanese sculptor Tomoko Takeda creates sculptures based on the story of this musical work. And explains the author of the sculptures on a better book to look at and understand what was going on in the story or novel. This is of course debatable, but maybe that is the way to attract and keep the younger generation to read this work, and the older generation to recall the plot of already-read books.

Tomoko Takeda is convinced that his original works are sought after and understood and readers of books and lovers of visual art. After all, sculptures and books are works of art. But each in its genre.
