Tunisian energy startup Saphon Energy has created an innovative type of storage of wind power generators that do not use moving parts in the form of blades. The design of this turbine uses the principle of a sailboat.
Generating part of an installation constructed in the form of "sail" catches the wind and converts into electricity the energy of moving air masses. "Sail" falters under the pressure of the wind that causes the small pistons, which are located at the top of the system. This piston is a hydraulic launch system, where the conversion of kinetic energy into electrical energy.
The developers claim that the innovative wind turbines generate much more energy than the existing system. Field tests of the prototype showed an efficiency that surpasses the current wind turbines on 100-130%. The prototype is almost two times cheaper than conventional wind turbine identical power.
Another significant advantage of the new wind turbine is silent. It is also worth noting that this setup does not interfere with radio signals and kills birds, unlike the traditional counterpart.
