In Europe impose control over the energy consumption of Wi-Fi routers and other appliances

The EU introduced new rules to control the operation of devices in sleep mode Stand By that will allow you to save up to 40 euros per year and reduce the carbon footprint of every home. The changes came into effect from 1 January 2015.

Now many devices are connected to the Internet 24/7, consuming a lot of energy while their owners sleep. According to the new EU initiative under the comprehensive name of EcoDesign, the aim of which is to reduce emissions of CO2 and conscious consumption of energy, consumers will be required to test their devices. Generally routers and modems can be programmed so that they are not operated at night. Also developed new requirements for labels on routers and other consoles, they will become more informative, and gas stoves manufacturers will have to display ratings of energy consumption.

The Commission notes, best electric stove, usually saves up to € 200 for its lifetime compared with the worst.

The programme also included prohibitions on the sale of popular vacuum cleaners with high wattage.

Experts say that manufacturers deliberately increased the power of some vacuums to make them look more attractive to consumers — even though the cleaner it produces more heat and noise than suction.

The same fate applies to the machine, which should turn off within 5 minutes after the last brewing, now most of them stay on until 40 minutes.

The Commission says its measures on the devices to Stand-By will reduce energy consumption by almost 75 terawatt-hours (TWh) without prejudice to the performance of the devices.
This will reduce CO2 emissions by 28 million tons, equivalent to the annual emissions of 1.5 million households.

According to the research, the new efficiency rules will reduce the electricity consumption of the average person by 10% within five years.
Manufacturers that do not comply with the new rules will be evaluated by the member States.
