The person who builds a temple for 54 years. Alone

A few of us a lifetime working on the same work. And quite a few those who are able to spend your life on a single private project. The Spaniard Justo Gallego martínez is one of those weirdos. Now Martinez is already 90 years old, and 54 of them he spent on the construction of a large Cathedral in Madrid.

Construction began in 1961 on a plot of land inherited Martinez from parents. He's the only designer, engineer, and worker. Material for construction is all that can get old bricks, the barrel – any trash. But sometimes local businesses donate him some building materials.

The General plan of construction of the Cathedral on paper it does not exist, according to the author of the project “in his head”.

Martinez already bequeathed to their offspring of the Catholic Church and hoped that at least after his death, there will be held a Church service.

The public attitude to this kind of architectural feat is twofold: the skeptics insist, to put an end to the endless construction and to demolish everything, while others believe that even unfinished, the Cathedral attracts tourists and is worthy to declare it an architectural monument (some sympathetic professional architects even offer Martinez free consultation).
