Educators this year

As you can see, winter is not close. Some people go on vacation, others remain half-empty cities, and someone, including me, sent in the expedition. Summer evenings in the expeditions, as in apartment buildings, very similar. Now is the time to arm themselves with interesting popular science book and dive right into the depths of Knowledge under the shade of the nearest tree cozy.

Artyom Akshentsev head of the scientific-popular library Nauchka.ru, research fellow of the Institute of water problems of RAS, Director of the field laboratory "ECOS" Summer school.

Actually, I'm not about summer, and about books. As you all probably know, the Ministry of justice included the "Dynasty" Foundation in the registry of foreign agents. But the staff of the Fund do not give up: June 4, was named the prize winners in the field of scientific and popular literature "Educator — 2015".

Well, now about the books worth reading this summer.

The story of the ancestor. A pilgrimage to the origins of life Author Richard Dawkins ― perhaps the world's most famous popularizer of biology. Oxford University Professor. Has honorary degrees from the universities of Westminster, Durham, Antwerp, Aberdeen, and Valencia. The author of popular science books and movies.

AST, Corpus

What the book is about a Grand chronicle of how part of the microbes in three and a half billion years turned into people. We have common ancestors and history, not only with chimpanzees and gorillas, but also with plants, fungi and bacteria ― all organisms on the planet. New book "that" Richard Dawkins, for the first time.

The spark of life. Electricity in the human body Author Frances Ashcroft is Professor of physiology at Oxford University, focuses his research on insulin, teaches, and writes interesting books.

What the book is about All our senses — from enjoying the Symphony of Mozart to the desire to scratch his back — no more than electrical activity of our cells triggered by ion channels. The book provides answers to many questions. What happens during a heart attack? Is it possible to actually die from fear? Why an electric eel can shock you? How to act on the body of toxins? That saved James bond when he was poisoned? Whether love is a chemical phenomenon?

Greatest mathematical problem Author Ian Stuart — English mathematician, Professor of Mathematical Institute of the University of Warwick, science popularizer, author of 80 books and numerous scientific and popular articles. Sphere of scientific interests — the theory of catastrophes, symmetry groups of bifurcations.

What the book is about For millennia, mathematics was no problem, which opened up completely new directions and opportunities. You will learn, for example, about Andrew Wiles and his search for a solution of Fermat's theorem, which remained impregnable 350 years, or about eccentric genius Grigory Perelman, refused the prize of one million dollars. Stewart describes not just a particular mathematical problem. He talks about the reasons of their appearance in modern science, explains why they are important, and, most importantly, answers the question, what leads their decision in purely practical terms. Those who believe math is "useless game of mind", this book should be read compulsory.

Amazing stories of a variety of substances. The secrets of those that constitute earth, water, air... and poetry Authors Peter Samples — candidate of chemical Sciences, author of over 1,500 articles in Newspapers and magazines, is now working in "Science and life". Bakhyt kenjeev is a graduate of the chemical faculty of Moscow state University and a poet of world renown.

Publishing House "Lomonosov"

What is the book About dozens of the most common and the most unusual materials: from gold to food, from water to poison, from drugs to shale gas. In the end, the man himself is a mixture of chemicals, and even so the knowledge of their properties allows to avoid many domestic troubles, as in the book wittily describes. And yet the authors find a lot of unexpected intersections of chemistry and poetry.
