Dubai will put solar panels on every roof in 2030
Dubai has already taken some interesting decisions for the development of renewable energy sources, but the city authorities did not stop there and announced a major new "green" step is to install solar panels on the roof of each building until 2030.
It's part of an ambitious plan, which aims to provide "non-oil" energy sources, 25% of the total needs until 2025, and this number is expected to grow to 75% by 2050.
Such energy sources include natural gas, solar energy, clean coal and nuclear energy. UAE plans to launch its first nuclear power plant in 2017.
The promise was accompanied by the Foundation of $ 27 billion, which will provide cheap loans to investors, establishing clean energy in Dubai.
"The Dubai government will encourage building owners to place solar panels on roofs and connected to the local grid," said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum (Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum), Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, at the launch of the project "clean energy strategy of Dubai 2050". The project aims to make Dubai a world center of clean energy and the green economy.
"Dubai is also planning to invest 500 million dirham investment in research in areas such as integration of smart grids and energy efficiency. The government intends to create tax-free business zone to attract clean energy companies from around the world," said Sheikh Mohammed. He used a similar zone to attract foreign investment in banking, commodities trading and other industries.
Solar Park being built in Dubai will generate 800 megawatts in April 2017 and 5000 MW by 2030, equivalent to a quarter of all electricity production in the Emirate this year.
That's a pretty bold promise. However, as with so many of these obligations are probably best to consider this gesture as a step in the right direction, because you need somewhere to start, but solar energy is a very good start. published
