How to make a fixed solar oven out of clay

First of all, the author decided to create a foundation for future stationary solar furnace. It was dug a hole the size of 110 by 70 cm which will be poured foundation. Once the foundation has hardened, the time comes to the structure of the furnace itself. Furnace author decided to do a mixture of clay and straw, which is called adobe. Such a building material since ancient times used for the construction of houses, sheds and other similar structures. To make the author herself kneaded clay in water, and then stir it with a straw. In such consistency straw acts as a binder, which does not allow to spread the clay structure. Upon receipt of the mixture, the author started laying on the adobe oven prepared for the foundation. As a result, the height of the furnace was about 80 cm.



Next to the top of the furnace is installed wooden frame 200 mm high. It is firmly fixed to adobe with metal pins in the bottom of the frame. Saman is adjusted to be flush with the wooden frame, and just inside is a recess in which the following will put the pan for cooking.



After the main part of the stove has been collected, the author began to improve her appearance. With clay oven remaining surface was leveled. To reduce heat losses in the upper part of the furnace was heat-insulating material is laid, such material may be cork, wood, rock wool, and the like.









To improve the appearance of the solar cooker hob author ennobled by using aluminum sheets, aluminum anodizing best heat-resistant paint or paint black.





As a cover for a solar furnace, the author used the glass. Already in this way within the furnace temperature can reach 100 degrees. However, the author decided to improve this figure to speed cooking. To do this he attached a mirror reflector, which will direct the sun's rays on the cooking surface. the temperature inside the furnace became high as 120 degrees.



The result was a great oven for solar energy, which is suitable for cooking at a certain time of the day. The possibility of cooking only at a certain time, when the sun is at a certain place and heats the oven as much as possible, the main drawback of such a furnace. The rest of the time the temperature inside the furnace will decrease, although if you want to increase the possibility of cooking, you can place additional reflectors, which will redirect the sun's rays on the surface of the cooking.
