Yellow diamond weighing 23 carats was purchased in 1928 in Paris for £ 8,000; the amount collected by subscription among workers employed in the construction of the building at the time of the Cuban Capitol in Havana.


Rimmed in platinum and gold, the diamond was cut into the marble floor of the lobby separating the Senate and House of Representatives, below the center of eight-pointed star, the rays of which were oriented to the cardinal.
